Olympus has announced a new superzoom model, the SP-810UZ, which
offers a 14MP sensor combined with a 36x optical zoom. The Olympus
SP-810UZ also has a HD video mode and 3" optical zoom, giving it plenty
of versatility for the advancing compact user.
With that 24-864mm
(35mm equivalent) lens offering a level of magnification to challenge
the largest currently available, such as the
Nikon P500
and
Fujifilm
HS20
, the Olympus SP-810UZ will doubtless turn consumer's heads. Add to
that the £229.99 RRP and the relatively small size and the SP-810UZ has
enough attributes to be highly anticipated in the WDC office.
A
720p HD movie mode may not compete with the 1080 resolution of a number
of the Olympus SP-810UZ's rivals, but the largely auto-led operation of
the camera should appeal to beginners. With dual image stabilisation and
a 3D mode rounding out the major features the Olympus SP-810UZ looks to
be an enticing prospect for the ever-expanding superzoom genre.
The Olympus SP-810UZ will be released in September.
