Moving on to my 2nd medium format camera after my Bronica S2a died. Comfy with weight and size. Not married to an SLR or TLR.
I primarily shoot family pictures and portraits, with the occasional landscape picture. Use a handheld lightmeter. I would be interested is using a digital back in the future. That is a bonus.
I am mostly concerned with functionality and reliability. I want a camera that will give me a long life. My Bronica S2A was not repairable, because parts aren't available any more. I do not want to repeat this.
I am currently considering the Mamiya RB. It is unlikely that I will find a Rollei or Hassy in this range that in great condition, but who knows. I need the whole outfit.
I was turned on to KEH and am looking for feedback on these models:
Bronica ETRS
Hasselblad Autofocus
Mamiya Twin Lens Reflex
Bronica GS-1
Mamiya 6 and 7
Miscellaneous Medium Format
Bronica Rangefinder
Mamiya 645 Autofocus
Pentax 645
Bronica SQ Series
Mamiya 645 Manual Focus
Pentax 6x7
Contax 645 Autofocus
Mamiya RB
Rollei Medium Format
Fuji Medium Format
Mamiya RZ
Rollei Twin Lens Reflex
Hasselblad
My questions are:
(1) Have you bought a used camera from KEH and if so, do you trust them? Did you need to invest more to have the camera serviced, etc.?
(2) Do you trust their "bargain" cameras or do you recommend only buying the ones labeled "excellent" condition?
(3) Which model, based on my needs and budget, do you recommend?
(4) What lens would be best for the outfit for universality to start off?
(5) If I could score a nice Mamiya C330 for under $400 with a prism would that be a wise investment or would I be happier with a Mamiya RB?
Many thanx,
Jeremy
